She's got a few that she likes to hear time after time again, but she has now begun to read them back to me. She won't truly read yet, but she has heard them so frequently that she'll recite them back to me word for word. It think it is almost time to get her some new books, and I believe I will get them one a time till we've got a great collection to anticipate. I need to find a childrens book that's got a lot of chapters but is aimed at girls her age. I need something that we will be able to read a little of each night before bed, although not something we'll finish right away. I need to find a childrens book that's got an easy story that she'll understand and remember from night to night, but one complicated enough to stretch her imagination as we read thru it.
Reading is critical to me, and I need it to be crucial to her too. I'll look for her first childrens book at our local bookstore, but I am not sure how hard it'll be to find the correct one. I recollect reading the Trixie Beldon series when I was younger, but I am not sure if she is the right age to deal with the length and depth of those stories yet. Trixie could need to wait a couple of years, but I think I am going to get her that series when she's reading on her very own. For at the moment, maybe I'm going to find a childrens book that stands by itself and isn't part of a series for simplicity sake.
There are numerous friends who've recommended their favourite childrens book to me, so I'm going to take that list and see what I can find. All kids like something else, so I can possibly go with the childrens book that she appears to be the most curious about. Rather frequently when kids have a choice in the problem they feel more in control, and they're then more interested. This has helped me in numerous things, and I suspect it'll work just as well in getting her keen on more recent books.
